Daegu Marathon - Full course map
Today, I’m excited to talk about the Daegu Marathon 2025 and explore its incredible course! If you live in Daegu, you won’t believe this route—they shut down all the main spots in the city: Seomun Market, Dongdaegu Station, Daegu Station, Suseong Lake, and more. I was born and raised here, so running through these places was an amazing experience. The course took me past so many spots tied to my memories—it felt surreal!
The Daegu Marathon is famous for its tough course, with a high cumulative elevation and lots of hills. Runners know that around the 30 or 35 km mark, we hit the 'dead point'—that moment of pure exhaustion. But in the Daegu Marathon, it gets worse: just when you’re suffering through that dead point, you face a big, long hill. At 36 km, there’s an uphill and downhill stretch called 'Beoman Overpass' (Beoman-daegyo,범안대교), which absolutely terrified me last year—no kidding!
But here’s the tricky part: you won’t spot any obvious hill markers on the 'gradient chart' (경사표). Then, from 38 km to 41 km, it’s a rollercoaster of uphills and downhills all the way back to the start line. Last year in 2024, I was done—I just wanted to go home and stop running. (Imagine being out there in April with 24°C heat!) You’ll really feel your limits if you haven’t trained enough on uphill running.

1. What to Know About Daegu Marathon
Daegu Marathon is Korea’s only World Athletics Gold Label race, shutting down the city’s main spots for a wide, open course that turns brutal in the final stretch. It’s also known for offering one of the biggest prize pools in the world—serious motivation for runners! But the real charm? The locals. Kids and citizens cheer you on from the sidelines, shouting ‘Hwaiting!’ (Korean for ‘You can do it!’) even while waiting at traffic lights. Last year, I saw runners from afar moved by the support from the opposite lane—it’s a tough run, but the warmth makes it unforgettable.
- The kids on the sidelines light up and love it when you give them high fives! and we also well known for those ugly shirts but I love the robe that only finisher can get !

As you run through Daegu Marathon, you’ll pass the city’s iconic landmarks and uncover its hidden charm, all while being lifted by the warm cheers of the locals. Picture this: wide, clean roads at Beomeo Intersection (범어네거리), Banwoldang Intersection (반월당네거리), Daegu Station (대구역), and Dongdaegu Station (동대구역), filled with countless citizens shouting their support—it’s impossible not to feel energized! Even drivers stuck at traffic lights join in, cheering you on from their cars. You won’t want to stop!
2. How to get the start line !
Getting to Daegu Stadium can be a bit tricky, even with Korea’s fantastic public transportation system. It’s pretty far from the nearest subway stations—Line 2 and Line 3—and not many buses pass by the stadium directly. Your best bet? Take subway Line 2 to Suseong Alpha City Station (수성알파시티역) and walk from there(warm-up 2km), or hop on the free shuttle bus provided for the event.
But honestly, I prefer taking a taxi. If you arrive early before the race starts, you can easily get dropped off right around the stadium!
